Journey to the Lagg Distillery for whisky tours & tastings
The Isle of Arran is a very special place, even amongst Scotland's many beautiful islands. Often called ‘Scotland in Miniature’ for its mixture of mountains in the north and lush green scenery in the south, Arranboasts lots of activities from golf at one of the seven stunning courses to visiting the Kings Cave, rumoured to have once sheltered Robert the Bruce. Arran is also home to our newly-built Lagg Distillery.
Lauded in 2023 as Distillery of the Year by the prestigious Scottish Whisky awards, at Lagg we continue the centuries-old tradition of creating unique peated single malt whisky on the south of the island. The distillery opened in 2019 following a two-year build that saw the installation of our custom-made copper pot stills as well as a truly magnificent visitors centre with views of the breathtaking Ailsa Craig from our whisky bar.
Every year we welcome thousands of visitors who come and spend a few hours with us discovering their new favourite peated whisky. We invite you to share the sights and tastes that Lagg Distillery has to offer, with our range of tours and tasting experiences available to book. Whether you’re travelling across from the mainland or making the trip from further afield, we are just 40 minutes from Brodick, which you can reach from Ardrossan Ferry Terminal.
Tour our stillhouse or visit the Dramming Den, where you'll enjoy a tasting of our LAGG Kilmory and Corriecravie single malt expressions. Perhaps you’d enjoy sitting at the whisky bar to pair our delectable grazing boards or our James of Arran chocolate truffles with the rich range of LAGG and Arran Single Malts we have available? ? And of course, we offer the Arran Water tour where our knowledgeable guides regale you with stories of smuggling and illicit whisky making from the island's past.
A trip to the Isle of Arran is ideal for couples on holiday, special occasions, work excursions, and everything in between. So jump on a CalMac Ferry over to Brodick and explore everything the Isle of Arran has to offer. When you’re busy planning your itinerary for your trip, between hiking Goatfell and visiting our stunning castles, make a booking to tour 2023’s Distillery of the Year (us!). At Lagg Distillery, we have tours and whisky tasting experiences to suit everyone and, while the pace of island life might be slower than on the mainland, our facility is as modern as they come, with EV charging stations on site.
