Lagg Distillery Presents Ewan McGregor with Cask of Single Malt

At Lagg Distillery, we’ve got some exciting news to share - and it’s not every day we get to say this! During his recent visit to the Isle of Arran, the one and only Ewan McGregor paid us a visit, and we decided to mark the occasion in true Lagg style by gifting him his very own cask of Lagg Single Malt. Yes, you read that right - Ewan now has one of our first-fill Bourbon Barrels of Lagg Single Malt aging in our warehouse. 

Welcoming Ewan to the distillery was an absolute treat. Getting to hand over that cask in person was a moment we won’t forget anytime soon. Now, we can’t wait to see how that liquid develops as it matures, and we’re thrilled to have Ewan along for the ride. 

Ewan’s connection to Isle of Arran Distillers goes way back. Back in 1998, our sister distillery up north in Lochranza gifted him a Sherry Hogshead, which has since been bottled to support some fantastic charities. In fact, just recently, Ewan auctioned off 150 exclusive bottles from his original 1998 cask raising an incredible £135,000 for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). We couldn’t be prouder to continue his journey with a little peaty Lagg twist.

Our distillery manager, Graham Omand, summed it up perfectly: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Ewan to Lagg and hand over his very own cask of Single Malt. We’re really looking forward to seeing how this whisky evolves and continuing this exciting partnership with Ewan.”

If you’re not familiar with us yet, here’s the scoop: Lagg Distillery is nestled in the southern part of the Isle of Arran, where we craft heavily peated whiskies with a smoky richness and an elegant freshness that’s full of surprises. We opened our doors in 2019, becoming the bold, smoky sibling to Lochranza Distillery up north, which produces the renowned Arran Single Malt. And we like to think we're doing a pretty good job - we even won Distillery of the Year in 2023.
