A Grand Day Out at Lagg Distillery with Susan Calman
We were delighted to welcome Susan Calman to Lagg Distillery as part of her show 'Susan Calman's Grand Day Out'. In the latest episode, Susan explored the beautiful Isle of Arran, and we had the honour of showcasing a behind-the-scenes look at our whisky-making process.
During her visit, Susan chatted with our Distillery Manager, Graham Omand, in the Blending Lab, where they discussed the illicit distilling that was rife on the island centuries ago. Graham told Susan how the name 'Arran Water' was given to the resulting whisky that was smuggled off the island - known at the time as some of the best in Scotland. She then headed into the stillhouse, where Fitzy guided her through the art of distillation. Susan even got hands-on by pressing the button to start the mash - becoming, for a moment, part of the Lagg team!
Her visit wrapped up with a Pour Your Own experience in our Visitor Centre, where she personally filled her own bottle of Lagg whisky - a perfect keepsake from her day with us.
The episode is a wonderful showcase of the island’s charm, the craft of Lagg whisky, and Susan’s infectious enthusiasm for travel in Scotland - we hope it inspires a bit of wanderlust in you!
